The Dep is all about showcasing the diversity of culinary talent in our city that comes in an incredible range of styles, cultures, flavours — and ages! Tonight’s guest chef, Ben Dreger is only 10 years old! (But soon to be 11).
SInce the weather has been getting colder, Ben has decided to make gnocchi with a tomato-based sauce. This recipe is one of Ben’s favourites to eat, and will make his Italian Nonna (Grandmother) proud!
Potato gnocchi with tomato sauce and Parmesan
Add crispy pancetta (Italian cured bacon)
Soup (by Afoodgypsy, $4) & salad (organic baby greens, apple cider vinaigrette, $3) will also be available.
For the past 3 years, Ben has participated every Monday in an after-school cooking club run by his French teacher. Although he may not eat everything he has made (he is very definite on his “likes” and “dislikes”) he really enjoys participating, learning and creating new things! Lucky for his parents, they are the recipients of some delicious meals!
Ben will be assisted in the kitchen by his sous chef and mom, Julie Dreger.
Every Friday we invite guest chefs – amateur or professional – to come share their favourite dishes at The Depanneur.
