This week’s bounty from Fresh City Farms inspired Emily to tap into the flavours of Sicily.
Caponata is one of the most iconic dishes of Sicily, a robust Mediterranean eggplant dish with garlic, onion and tomato, often spiked with olives, raisins and pine nuts — Emily’s will feature meaty mushrooms in the mix as well. It’ll be served with another Sicilian speciality, panelle, a polenta-like dish made from chickpea flour, seasoned with lemon zest and fresh rosemary, then cut into wedges and fried to give it a crispy golden crust. Top it off with an elegant blood orange and winter sprouts salad, and you have one spectacular winter meal.
