Today they hunt truffles together in UK & Italy, and Hajira hosts exclusive, truffle-focused culinary events around the world featuring her line of premium Italian truffle products along with fresh summer truffles (Tuber aestivum) foraged by the Chef herself.
Revered for centuries in the cuisines of France and Italy, truffles are considered by many to be one of the world’s most luxurious foods because of their rarity and intense, mysterious aroma. Found only in specific climates, they grow underground alongside the roots of certain trees such as oak and hazelnut, and must be foraged with the help of specially trained dogs or pigs who find them by smell. Almost impossible to cultivate, truffles are available for only short seasons each year, which adds to their high value and mystique.
