The Dep is hosting a Pizza Party in the Park!
The Depanneur has been back up and running for 2 years now, so we're throwing a party to celebrate!
On Sunday, August 16 our good friend Chef Anthony Sestito and his crew from Pastaio are going to take over the pizza oven in Christie Pits Park. (His Wood Fired Pizza Making Class that afternoon is already sold out, but don't despair — we've added a second class the following Sunday, Aug 23). Once the class is over, Anthony will begin gearing up to make a LOT of pizza (and a bit of pasta too!).
At 6pm the pop-up pizza parlour will be open to the public and anyone who wants a pie can step up and buy one. I expect there will be lots of people in the park for the Toronto Outdoor Picture Show screening of Faces Places, a fascinating and beautiful documentary about the work of octogenarian artist Agnès Varda, or simply enjoying one our of city's great green spaces on a summer's evening.
All friends and acquaintances, customers and chefs in the Depanneur extended family are invited to come down and hang out in the park with us. Enjoy some piping-hot, wood-fired pizza, and feel free to bring your own picnics and drinks to enjoy alongside. We'll play some tunes, chill, and make the most of lovely summer evening under the stars.
To ensure you get your food, pre-order your pizzas & pastas here — there will be a dedicated line for pre-order pickups (keeping in mind that the pies will be made to order so don't all rush the kitchen at the same time!). Or, you can just show up and pay for your pie on site, available until we sell out (or 9pm).

Creamy vodka sauce, pecorino, chili flakes. Finished in the wood-fired oven until bubbling and caramelized around the edges.
Ravioli al Forno — $12
House-made ricotta & spinach ravioli baked with pomodoro, mozzarella and parmigiano. Finished in the wood-fired oven.

Anthony Sestito is the head Chef of Pastaio, one of the leading suppliers of specialty handmade Italian pastas to many of Toronto finest restaurants. Building on his Italian heritage and more than 14 years experience working in some of the GTA’s top kitchens, along with several in-depth trips to Italy to study pasta traditions from Bologna to Rome, Anthony founded Pastaio in 2020 to dedicate himself to becoming a full-time pastaio (pasta maker). @_pastaio_
