Tastes of Toronto: A Culinary Journey Through the City presented by Museum of Toronto
What makes a food distinctly Toronto?
Join us for an evening of storytelling, tasting, and exploration as we uncover the flavours, traditions, and communities that have shaped the city’s culinary identity.
Award-winning artist, cultural critic, and food enthusiast Rhoma Akosua Spencer will explore the culture of Trinidad and Tobago and its influence on the creation of Toronto’s Caribana Festival. Through stories, conversation, and food, Rhoma will share insights into the traditions, histories, and community connections that continue to shape Toronto today.
Guests will enjoy Trinidadian doubles—a beloved street food featuring curried chickpeas served between two soft fried flatbreads—and sorrel, a traditional Caribbean hibiscus drink. The evening also includes a guided exhibition tour, offering new perspectives on Toronto’s diverse cultural history.
Menu: Trini Doubles and Sorrel
